Welcome to the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ
Our Worship Services
Our services are conducted in a quiet and reverential manner. In Hebrews 12:28 we find, "Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe." Our services are meant to praise God and draw worshipers closer to God and to strengthen and encourage one another during our time together.
Our worship services are completely based on what we find recorded in the New Testament. We partake of the Lord's Supper each Sunday, the first day of the week, to honor and commemorate the sacrifice Christ made on behalf of His people for all time. ( Acts 20:7 ) We offer prayers to God through Christ, listen to the word of God spoken, give as we have been prospered, and sing with our hearts as a congregation. ( I Cor 16:2 & Ephesians 5:19 )
Jesus taught that "...an hour is coming, and now is, when true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit; and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" ( John 4:23-24 ). We want to be true to God and His Word.

Our Authority
Our authority is Jesus Christ ( Colossians 1:18 ) and we show our love to Jesus by doing His will. In all things we do what God has commanded us through Christ ( Colossians 3:17). Therefore the Bible is our ONLY guide.
The different teachings and divisions we see in the religious world today is very different from the unity and oneness taught by Christ and the New Testament writers ( John 17:17-21; I Corinthians 1:10 ). Man has placed many personal beliefs and ideas into practice that distort the purity and doctrine that was taught by our Lord. Divisions are not pleasing to God so we have no denominational name or creed. We are Christians only. ( I Peter 4:16 )
A Christian in the New Testament is one who is following Christ only. Jesus built His church, His body, and He is the head ( Ephesians 1:22-23 ). The only way one enters the body today is the same way it was entered in the first century. Read Acts 2 and find out how those 3,000 became Christians. Many people today rejoice when they find a group of people in their community is like the congregations mentioned in the Bible. Our plea is for truth and simply following the teachings concerning Christ.
A Friendly Invitation
Your visit with us will be a joyful experience for us and we hope for you too. We do not single out people from the pulpit nor ask you to do anything other than listen to the word of God. There are Bibles provided in each of the pews, if you do not have one, so that you may follow along as the word of God is preached and taught. We have a friendly group of members of the Lord's body, as that should be the trait of each one of God's children, and we encourage you to give us the opportunity to get to meet you after the services. Many will welcome you and encourage you to return to be with us again.
If you have a hearing impairment and have need of an assistive device, we have units available that will allow you to individually experience the audio level needed for you to take part in and benefit from Bible classes and worship services. Please ask someone and they will be happy to assist you in obtaining a unit for use.
If transportation or assistance is needed, we can be of help if you would call our office at 636-8446 from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (weekdays). We are certain that you will not regret your visit with us, and we will be encouraged by your presence.
We have Bible courses available for those who are interested in further personal study. We also encourage you that if you have ANY question about our worship or the Bible, please feel free to ask us! Being a Bible reading congregation, we count it a joy to help others find the truth about our Lord and God.
Again, we truly hope you will accept our invitation to meet with us. It will be our pleasure and we believe you will be blessed in your desire to know more about the Lord.
Seekers of Truth
People take a lot of chances in life. Many live carefree and reckless with little or no concern while others live in fear hoping the worst never happens. But of all things, we cannot afford to take chances about our eternal destiny. Just think about it, eternity. And yet for something so serious, every time we turn around, different things are being said about our eternal salvation. It gets confusing as to what one should believe. The end result is we get tired of all the religious bombardment and decide to go at it alone, "taking a chance" that God will be merciful. The problem is so many have added their own "religious" ideas to God's word or they have distorted the facts. There is one thing for certain; people will perish without the truth and a love for the truth ( II Thessalonians 2:10-12 ). And that's our concern! We need truth as defined by God in the Bible. Maybe we need to ask ourselves two questions:
1. How many different truths did Jesus teach in the first century?
2. Did He teach His disciples they could teach anything they wanted? Or did He teach them they could vary the teachings, if needed?
Paul said he taught the same thing everywhere he went ( I Corinthians 4:17 ). How did we get today where we have over 600 varied teachings? We realize we do not know everything and never will, but we need to be certain about our eternal destiny and that only comes through truth ( John 8:31-32 ). So we want to encourage you to be a seeker of truth according to the word of God. We want to encourage you to deal honestly with the word and be willing to change where change needs to be made. The Bible tells us more noble minded people are those who do not blindly follow what someone says, but searches out the things spoken to make sure it's right ( Acts 17:10-11 ). Come join us anytime. You won't find us perfect, but you will find us loving truth and holding to what's right to be the best that we can.
